2019 LENTEN PROJECT!

Thanks to all who have donated so far to the St Eugene Annual Lenten Project that benefits our Sister Parish, Our Lady Queen of Apostles, in Nkokonjeru, Uganda. 17 years ago in 2002, St Eugene began a Twinning Relationship with Our Lady Queen of Apostles Parish and for the past 14 years, we have assisted them with sustainable agriculture programs. The money raised this year will again go towards their piggery project so they can finish the pig sty as well as buy good breeds of piglets. A good breed costs about $200 per piglet and $100 will pay for feed, vitamins and vaccinations for the piglet until maturity. Once the   piglets are grown, they are then given to the sub-parishes in the area where it will breed more piglets that then will be handed out to the other parishioners. The pigs provide much needed manure for growing crops as well as protein and meat for their diets.

But, the relationship with our Sister Parish isn't just about donating money, it is about sustaining the friendships that we have made and to continue praying for each other. Please remember to pray for Our Lady Queen of Apostles family and know that they pray for us. Fr Lawrence, pastor of Our Lady Queen of Apostles sent this message: "Happy Easter to our Brother and Sisters of St Eugene. May we all rejoice together in the Risen Christ!”

The two photos are of Fr Paul making friends and getting a chicken on the recent trip to Uganda and of Fr Paul and Fr Lawrence celebrating Mass in Uganda.

Donations are still being accepted. You can place the donations in the houses in the Narthex, send a check to the parish office with "lenten project" in the memo line, or donate online on the St. Eugene parish website.

Thank you St Eugene Parishioners.
You are all so generous! God is Good! All the Time!
